Emily Blunt as Ms. Marvel in 'Avengers 2'?

‘Avengers 2’ Confirmed for Summer 2015, Could Be Eyeing May 1 Release (x)

A few days ago, Variety broke the internet with the announcement that Joss Whedon would be returning to write and direct The Avengers 2. Now Marvel has confirmed that the film will arrive in theaters in the summer of 2015. MTV has gone as far as to suggest that May 1 could be the exact date, though Marvel hasn’t gone that far in their release date announcement.

"Marvel has a very set agenda of what they want to do, they are already kind of ahead of the game [on the sequel] because they’ve got the guy that did it before doing it again and something tells me Joss already has the template [for the film]," the source told them. “In terms of the time frame, I think that it is well in the works. … It looks like the release date might be May 1, 2015, but that can change depending on people’s schedules. The beauty ofThe Avengers is that you’ve got so many people in this that even during the shoot if someone has to do another film they can just focus on [other characters].”

All signs also point to Ant-Man being the third film in Marvel slate of films arriving in 2014 to go along with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Regardless of what the exact release date is, we do know that the film is confirmed for summer 2015 and will pick up from where Guardians of the Galaxy leaves off.

Joss Whedon signs on to DIRECT & WRITE The Avengers Sequel

There are a lof of female superheroes in comics, but why so few on film? Joss, you tried to make a Wonder Woman movie for several years, right?

Sam, what about your preparation?

Chris, did wikipedia come in handy for research?

What questions have you been getting the most?

"Chris Hemsworth punched me in the face, but I asked him to do that, so I forgive him. We were doing this fight scene and Joss [Whedon] was saying, ‘Guys, I feel like it’s just really, well, it just needs to be more. I’m just not really feeling it.’ So we’re trying to do it, and I was just like, ‘Chris, just punch me!’ It was great. It looks amazing." — Tom Hiddleston

"One of the best scenes that I wrote was the beautiful and poignant scene between Steve and Peggy [Carter] that takes place in the present. And I was the one who was like, Guys, we need to lose this. It was killing the rhythm of the thing. And we did have a lot of Cap, because he really was the ‘in’ for me. I really do feel a sense of loss about what’s happening in our culture, loss of the idea of community, loss of health care and welfare and all sorts of things. I was spending a lot of time having him say it, and then I cut that." — Joss Whedon describing the present-day meeting between Steve and Peggy that unfortunately wound up on the cutting room floor in an interview with New York Times. The Avengers: Behind the Scenes Look

"By not trying to [top it]. By being smaller. More personal, more painful. By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself. I want to know what makes them tick, what makes them flawed, what makes them fight — and ultimately, what makes them awesome. I go to these movies for those moments when the heroes define themselves, either through action or deliciously overwritten speeches." —

Does anyone else have a feeling that Whedon is going to troll us bad at the end of The Avengers film?
